Miss Jackson was a health instructor at the best known co-ed high school in the region. Although she had been teaching for only one year, she had already achieved a reputation as an educator with teaching approaches that motivated and stimulated students to learn and to think.

The day after all of the students completed their presentations, Miss Jackson passed out a sheet of paper with a list of all the alcohol addiction signs that were presented and discussed in class and in the presentations. Miss Jackson then asked the students in her classroom to go over the list and rank the top eight alcohol addiction signs that were most indicative of alcohol dependency. After roughly five minutes, Miss Jackson collected the sheets of paper and informed the students in her class that after she studies the numbers, she will discuss her findings the morning of the next school day.
Miss Jackson asked the students in her class to look over the data on the sheet of paper she handed out and then to raise their hand if they had any issues, questions, or concerns. Within 30 or 40 seconds, just about every pupil in the classroom raised her or his hand. It was evident that the students had some questions, concerns, or issues about their results versus the answers given by the alcoholism authorities.
