Angie and Lenny have been married for six years. They wanted to experience some fun and excitement before they decided to have a family and so they purposely constructed a super vigorous social life.

The essential problem, it needs to be highlighted, is that nearly everything they do socially includes drinking. As an illustration, all of the happy hours, sporting events, family get-togethers, parties with friends, and dinner engagements they spend time at somehow include drinking.

If they were moderate drinkers this wouldn't be a major problem. Because they drink in an abusive manner, however, they are starting to become aware of some instantly noticeable alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For example, just three days ago Lenny received a second DWI and has been taking time off from work due to alcohol-related health issues. What is more, Lenny's last two performance assessments at the office have been less than admirable and he has started to fail to remember what he says or does while he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been having sleep-related problems and his family has begun to agonize over his drinking circumstances.

In a similar manner, Angie has been feeling depressed with things in her life and to cope with this, she has been drinking more than any time in the past ten months. Moreover, Angie has been experiencing more than a few throbbing migraine headaches and experiencing terrible hangovers due to her drinking. Lastly, Angie has been feeling substantially less energetic when she awakens in the morning, she has been getting to work late almost every Monday, and she has been getting some unhelpful criticism from her family members, relatives, friends, and coworkers about her careless drinking.

One Thursday evening while watching the television, Lenny and Angie stumbled upon a remarkable documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This TV special was a real realization to Lenny and Angie because more than a few of the alcohol facts that were talked about appeared as if they were directly linked to many of the drinking issues Angie and Lenny had been going through.

With thoughts of the TV special still etched in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been exhibiting could be a warning that they are addicted to alcohol or maybe becoming alcoholic. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the local alcohol rehabilitation clinic to find out more about the severity of their drinking situation.

Paradoxically, even though their drinking situation hadn't yet changed, it was plain to see that Angie and Lenny were at least focusing on their drinking difficulties, they were enthusiastic about finding out more about their drinking situation, and they were interested in learning how they could significantly lessen or get rid of the alcohol-related problems that had begun to deteriorate even further.

When Angie and Lenny went to bed that night, they arrived at a decision that the next afternoon, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol treatment center located just North of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to prevail over the drinking difficulties that had cropped up in their lives, they in point of fact had the most revitalizing night's sleep they could recall in the last three weeks.
